Transition training: The things you can learn

I've wanted to write an article about transition training for RVers for some time, but, frankly, it's near impossible, I've found, to get the major players in the "industry" to get back to me, so a full-blown "from the CFI" perspective piece is probably not going to happen.
Not to worry, however, because the more I thought about it this week, the more I realize that the best people to talk to about transition training may not be the people who offer it (hey, one student is pretty much the same as the next), but the people who take it.
Put a bunch
of their thoughts together, and you practically have a transition
training syllabus. Sort of. (More)

Mozambique fly-out planned

Caribbean cruise... at altitude
This isn't about RVs (except that the chapter prez is an RV builder) , but given that it's a very slow week RV-news-wise, and the fact it's even snowing in Texas, it's still a valuable article. How to fly to the Caribbean. (EAA 309- North Carolina)
Speed brakes on an RV-10
Rapidly becoming one of my favorite blogs, the site "Kit Aircraft Modifications" this week, Dave Herter looks at what it would be like to put some speed brakes on his RV-10, especially at this time of the year in his southern Ontario region. (More)
RVator index updated
Quite often I see people referring others to articles in Van's Aircraft's RVator magazine, which comes out six times a year. But few of us can remember exactly what issue it was in, and going through years and years of RVators is a daunting task. The RVator index makes it easier to focus on a topic and single issue, and it's just been updated for Issue 6 of 2006.. This spreadsheet is available online in the RV Builder's Yahoogroup (in the files section). Or you can use the Web version. (More)
Colin Walker
It is my sad duty to report that Colin Walker, husband, father, grandfather, and former maker of one of North America's most popular wooden props for homebuilt aircraft, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 10, 2007. A celebration of Colin's life will be held on Sunday in Delta, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army or the Canadian Museum of Flight will be appreciated. (Rob Prior) |
